Part-time Academic Publishing Intern / Editorial Assistant
Key Responsibilities
The Editorial Assistant will work closely with the Editorial Office and academic editors to support the day-to-day operation of the journal.
Manuscript & Editorial Support
- Conduct basic initial checks of newly submitted manuscripts;
- Check manuscript completeness, formatting, references, figures, tables, and supplementary files;
- Assist with basic scope and technical checks before academic assessment;
- Assist editors with reviewer identification and reviewer invitations;
- Monitor peer-review progress and reviewer deadlines;
- Maintain accurate manuscript records and status updates in the online submission system;
- Assist with routine communication with authors, reviewers, and editors;
- Support the processing of revised manuscripts;
- Assist with proofreading and basic manuscript preparation.
Publishing & Production Support
- Assist with manuscript formatting and reference checking;
- Check article metadata before publication;
- Assist with figures, tables, and supplementary materials;
- Support the preparation of accepted manuscripts for online publication;
- Assist with basic publication and production workflows.
Training will be provided for the journal's editorial and submission systems. Previous experience with academic publishing is welcome but not essential.

- or related disciplines.
Students from other academic backgrounds with strong English and an interest in scholarly publishing are also welcome to apply.
Essential Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme;
- Good written and spoken English;
- Familiarity with academic papers and the research process;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Good organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines;
- Reliable and consistent weekly availability;
- Willingness to learn academic publishing workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience publishing or preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals;
- Experience reviewing academic manuscripts;
- Experience with academic writing;
- Familiarity with reference-management software;
- Experience with Word or similar document-editing tools;
- Familiarity with manuscript submission systems such as JAMS, OJS, Editorial Manager, or ScholarOne;
- Previous experience in academic publishing or editorial work.
Published papers are an advantage but are not a strict requirement.
Working Arrangement
Part-time | Approximately 10–12 hours per week
Remote or Hybrid
The position is designed to accommodate students' academic commitments. Working hours are flexible and can be arranged around coursework, research, examinations, graduate-school preparation, or language-test preparation.
Candidates based in Shanghai may also choose to work partly from our office, where applicable.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can maintain a stable weekly commitment over an extended period.

For students who require internship experience as part of their academic programme, Sunlit Grove Publishing (Shanghai) can provide formal internship documentation, including an internship certificate bearing the company's official seal, subject to the requirements of the student's institution.
Students should confirm their institution's specific requirements for internship recognition in advance.
5. Paid Position
Approximately RMB 300–350 per week, depending on experience and workload.
Development Opportunity
This position is intended as a longer-term training opportunity, rather than a short-term administrative internship.
The successful candidate will gradually take on greater responsibility as they become familiar with the journal's editorial systems and workflows.
Students who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, and sustained commitment may have opportunities to continue working with JCP as the journal develops.
