The Journal of Joining and Corrosion Protection (JCP) welcomes high-quality original research articles, review articles, perspectives, and other scholarly contributions in joining science, welding engineering, corrosion science, corrosion protection, surface engineering, and related interdisciplinary fields.

JCP is committed to rigorous peer review, editorial integrity, transparent publishing practices, and open-access dissemination. We provide authors with a professional, fair, and constructive editorial experience while ensuring that published research is permanently identifiable, citable, and globally discoverable through Crossref DOI registration.

 

Article Types

Research Article

Original research presenting significant advances in theory, experimentation, modelling, or engineering applications.

  • Maximum 8,000 words
  • Up to 8 figures and/or tables

Review Article

Comprehensive and critical reviews of established or emerging research areas.

  • By invitation or prior proposal
  • Maximum 12,000 words

Short Communication

Concise reports of novel findings requiring rapid dissemination.

  • Maximum 3,500 words
  • Up to 4 figures and/or tables

Case Study

Reports describing practical industrial applications, engineering implementations, or failure analyses.

  • Maximum 5,000 words

 

Manuscript Preparation

Language

Manuscripts must be submitted in clear and professional English. Authors may use either British or American English, provided usage is consistent throughout the manuscript.

Templates

Authors are encouraged to prepare manuscripts using the journal templates:

Abstract

  • Maximum 250 words
  • Unstructured format

Graphical Abstract

A graphical abstract is required for Research Articles.

Requirements:

  • One image
  • Accompanied by a short summary (maximum 50 words)

Data Availability Statement

A Data Availability Statement is mandatory for all submissions.

Recommended repositories include:

  • Zenodo
  • Figshare
  • Mendeley Data

If data cannot be shared, authors should provide an appropriate explanation.

Supplementary Materials

Supplementary files may be published online alongside the article. Authors should provide a brief description of supplementary content within the main manuscript.

Accessibility

Authors are encouraged to provide alternative text descriptions for figures and tables whenever appropriate.

 

Editorial and Peer Review Policy

All submissions undergo the following process:

  1. Technical and administrative assessment by the Editorial Office.
  2. Initial academic screening by an Associate Editor.
  3. External peer review by independent experts.
  4. Evaluation of reviewer reports by a Deputy Editor.
  5. Final editorial decision.

Peer Review Model

JCP operates a single-blind peer review system.

  • Reviewers know the identity of authors.
  • Authors do not know the identity of reviewers.

The journal normally seeks at least two independent review reports for each manuscript.

 

Publication Ethics

JCP is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics.

The journal follows internationally recognised principles of research integrity and publication ethics.

Submissions may be rejected for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • plagiarism
  • duplicate submission
  • fabricated or falsified data
  • inappropriate authorship practices
  • undisclosed conflicts of interest

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review.

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

"No competing interests have been declared."

 

Preprint Policy

JCP supports the dissemination of research through recognised preprint servers.

Authors may deposit manuscripts on platforms such as:

  • arXiv
  • SSRN
  • institutional repositories

before or during submission to the journal.

Publication in JCP will not be affected by prior preprint posting.

Manuscripts should be submitted through the online submission system:

Cover letters are optional but encouraged.

 

Article Processing Charges

Article Processing Charges (APCs) are invoiced only after acceptance.

Information regarding APCs, discounts, and waiver requests is available on the APC page.

Waiver requests should be submitted before peer review begins.

 

Submission Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript, please confirm that:

✓ The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere.

✓ All authors have approved the submission.

✓ The manuscript falls within the journal scope.

✓ Figures and tables are properly cited and labelled.

✓ A Data Availability Statement is included.

✓ Conflicts of interest have been disclosed.

✓ ORCID identifiers have been provided where available.

✓ The manuscript has undergone a basic language review.

 

Open Access, Copyright and Licensing

JCP is an open-access journal.

All accepted articles are published online and are freely accessible immediately upon publication.

Authors retain responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their work.

After Acceptance

Accepted manuscripts proceed to:

  • copyediting
  • typesetting
  • author proof review
  • online publication

The journal aims to publish accepted articles online within five working days after final proof approval.

Authors will receive publication notifications and promotional materials following publication.
