About Sunlit Grove Publishing
Sunlit Grove Punlishing is an independent academic press founded in Hong Kong in 2026, built on a simple conviction: that rigorous scholarship deserves to be illuminated, not hidden behind paywalls or disciplinary silos.
We specialize in natural sciences journals and believe that scholarship thrives best in conversation. Our name reflects this ethos — a grove where diverse intellectual traditions grow side by side, nourished by the same light of open, ethical publishing.
Behind Sunlit Grove is a team of seasoned publishing professionals. We know the standards of the world's leading academic publishers — because we helped set them.
From our base in Hong Kong, we work at the intersection of global scholarship, serving authors and readers in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and beyond. Our team combines experience in scholarly publishing, editorial management, and academic communication.
An International Journal of Joining Technologies, Corrosion Science and Protection Engineering
Information
An international, peer-reviewed, open access journal advancing the science and technology of joining, welding, and corrosion protection.
- Open access— free for readers, with Article Processing Charge (APC) paid by authors or their institutions.
- ISSN Status: The Journal of Corrosion and Protection is currently applying for an ISSN. The ISSN number displayed in the journal header is a temporary placeholder required by the journal management platform and does not represent an assigned ISSN. The official ISSN will be updated immediately upon assignment.
- Recognition of Reviewers: reviewers who provide timely, thorough peer-review reports receive vouchers entitling them to a discount on the APC of their next publication in any MDPI journal, in appreciation of the work done.
Aim and Scope
Joining and Corrosion Protection is dedicated to publishing original and impactful research at the intersection of materials joining and environmental degradation. It fills a recognized gap in the existing literature by providing a unique, integrated, authoritative outlet for:
- Welding/joining process innovations and their influence on in-service corrosion behaviour
- Dissimilar material joining and the resulting corrosion/oxidation vulnerabilities
- Corrosion mechanisms uniquely linked to weldments, heat-affected zones, and bonded interfaces, in both model and real-life environments
- Protective strategies, including advanced coatings, inhibitors, cathodic protection, and post-weld treatment
- Advanced characterisation (in-situ, synchrotron, and multi-scale) and computational modelling (FE, DFT, materials informatics) that connect joining science with degradation prediction
- Industrial case studies from aerospace, marine/offshore, nuclear, renewable energy, and lightweight automotive sectors
The journal particularly encourages contributions that integrate joining process science with corrosion performance — manuscripts that treat both as parts of one engineering integrity problem.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
As an open access journal, we charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover editorial, production, and hosting costs.
