Aim and Scope

Joining and Corrosion Protection is dedicated to publishing original and impactful research at the intersection of materials joining and environmental degradation. It fills a recognized gap in the existing literature by providing a unique, integrated, authoritative outlet for:

• Welding/joining process innovations and their influence on in-service corrosion behaviour
• Dissimilar material joining and the resulting corrosion/oxidation vulnerabilities
• Corrosion mechanisms uniquely linked to weldments, heat-affected zones, and bonded interfaces, in both model and real-life environments
• Protective strategies, including advanced coatings, inhibitors, cathodic protection, and post-weld treatment
• Advanced characterisation (in-situ, synchrotron, and multi-scale) and computational modelling (FE, DFT, materials informatics) that connect joining science with degradation prediction
• Industrial case studies from aerospace, marine/offshore, nuclear, renewable energy, and lightweight automotive sectors

The journal particularly encourages contributions that integrate joining process science with corrosion performance — manuscripts that treat both as parts of one engineering integrity problem.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

As an open access journal, we charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover editorial, production, and hosting costs.

Waivers: Full or partial waivers are available for authors from low‑income economies (World Bank classification) and for early‑career researchers (upon request and subject to editorial approval).
